離不開亞太 與陸相爭
川普當選後，第一位通上電話的國外領導人，是南韓總統朴槿惠；會晤的第一個國外元首，是日本首相安倍晉三，後來又打破37年來的慣例，與蔡總統通電話，也同時與菲律賓總統杜特蒂通話。這些動作都顯示他不是要離開亞太，而是以自己的方式和節奏，在亞太與中國互別苗頭。

「親美日遠中」是蔡政府給外界的亞太戰略印象，在英川通話後，一度讓一部分人感到「振奮」，但大陸展開上述的反制措施後，川普團隊接著在蔡出訪過境美國之際，對媒體「自清」，強調川普及團隊人員都不會見蔡，重新回到一中的軌道。
台灣在中美新局的博弈中，看似戰略地位提升，但台灣若真的是戰略地位改變，美國就應該挺到底，而非左右搖擺，如果美國只是視自身利益拿台灣與中國叫價，那台灣終究只是個籌碼、棋子而已。
國際情勢詭譎多變，美俄可能和好、菲律賓轉向中國、兩岸從領導人可以會面變成官方謝絕往來，若哪一天中美在貿易、北韓問題上達成共識，台灣失去戰略利用的剩餘價值，難保商人思維的川普，立場會瞬間從「保台」轉向「棄台」。
